Tour fitness levels

We categorise each tour in terms of the pace and this information can be viewed on the deal page. 

Generally speaking, we recommend a basic level of fitness for all travellers in order to enjoy the tour experience in its entirety. You will be required to walk comfortably every day, with some steps included, and be able to get on and off a coach with ease.

Category 1

Leisurely Paced Tour: A general level of fitness and mobility is required for this tour. The itinerary includes ample free time and you will not be impacted by stairs and uneven terrain. Where coach transportation is included, you will be required to get on and off the coach with ease.
 

Category 2

Leisurely Paced Tour: This itinerary will be conducted at a relaxed pace. You will typically spend several nights at one location which means less time spent packing and unpacking, and more sightseeing. You will be required to move about unassisted, including getting on and off vehicles, walking up and down stairs and handling your own luggage.

Category  3

3 – Moderate Tour: A good level of fitness and mobility is required, as this tour includes a moderate level of physical activity and is considered a medium-fast paced tour. You should be able to walk up and down stairs, get on and off the coach and able to walk reasonable distances of approximately 2 kilometres per day or more with ease. Any physical ailments you may have must be disclosed at the time of booking to determine your suitability. If you have any form of walking aids, other than a walking stick or hiking poles, then this tour is not suitable.

 

Category 4

Active Tour: A very good level of fitness and mobility is required for you to enjoy all aspects of the itinerary, as this is considered a fast-paced tour. While there is some free time scheduled either in the morning or afternoon, there are many full days of sightseeing with minimal rest and some early starts. You will be required to walk up and down stairs, get on and off the coach and participate in all scheduled sightseeing that may be conducted on uneven ground and terrain. Any physical ailments you may have must be disclosed at the time of booking to determine your suitability. If you have any form of walking aids, other than a walking stick or hiking poles, then this tour is not suitable.

 

Category  5

Physically Demanding Tour: A strong level of fitness and mobility is required for you to enjoy all aspects of the itinerary. The tour has been designed to include all of the major sightseeing and attractions of the country and is therefore considered fast-paced, with minimal free time and some long days of travelling. You would be required to move freely on your own up and down stairs, get on and off the coach with easy, as well as being able to participate in all scheduled sightseeing that may be conducted on uneven ground and mountainous terrain. If travelling above an altitude of 3000m, you will be required to complete a medical clearance form. This tour is not suitable if you require a walker and wheelchair or any other physical ailments that may impact your overall enjoyment.
